I replied privately to Mark, but I will share my thoughts with you all on this board since many here are echoing some of my thoughts. I felt that Freddy's post was not meant to take away from those who served in a Viet Nam but showed how much we as a country have learned about what it means to be there for those who sacrificed their lives, their family needs, their personal goals, their futures for the good of our country and for the values we hold dear.
There are many who feel we have no business being in the middle east but after the lessons learned from the Viet Nam war, I thank god that we do NOT abandon our troops and vilify them for serving with pride and honor. These soldiers put their lives at risk, miss seeing their children be born or reach milestones, come home to no jobs, maybe no spouse/signigficant other, possibly have both spouses serving at the same time and their children placed with relatives and not a single one of them is their because of a draft. They are there by choice.
Many of our fellow CFT's on this board are from the armed services. ISSA has a long history of being recognized by the GI Bill. We have had people studying for their certification and working on their course from the comfort of a tent in the dessert.
For all those who have served in the past and for those who are still serving, you do us all a great service and deserve our honor and our respect.
